About Erin alexander / akofa oyin.

For over two decades, Erin Alexander has worked at the intersection of ecological design, cultural wisdom, and spiritual ecology. As an initiated Iyalocha of 22 years and a Master Feng Shui Consultant, she brings a rare synthesis of ancestral knowledge and environmental innovation to her work.

Through her practice, Funki Shui Design, Erin helps people and communities create environments that are both sustainable and soul-centered — places where energy, ecology, and spirit exist in harmony. Her approach is rooted in Yoruba cosmology and informed by her training in geomancy, green building, and environmental justice.

Erin’s projects range from community solar initiatives and sustainable landscapes to culturally grounded design education. She has led environmental programs, developed curriculum for schools and nonprofits, and created spaces that heal both people and planet.

As an ecological designer, Erin believes that every environment tells a story — and that story should honor the land, the ancestors, and the future generations who will inherit it.

“Design is sacred work. Every space — a home, a garden, a classroom, a watershed — holds the power to restore balance. My mission is to bring that balance back through design that honors both Earth and spirit.” - Erin Alexander

“Cultural ecology is a methodological approach to investigate the relationship between humans and environments, considering culture as a key to understanding the evolutionary process, differently from other living beings.”
