Oshun River Project
The Ochun River Project is a collaborative initiative uniting practitioners, scientists, and the local community to develop a Watershed Framework Directive that honors both ecological sustainability and spiritual tradition. Rooted in the understanding that water is sacred, this project seeks to restore and protect the Almond River and its surrounding ecosystems while integrating traditional Yoruba ecological knowledge with modern environmental science.
Through this initiative, we aim to:
- Develop a Watershed Framework Directive: A community-driven plan to guide sustainable water management, habitat restoration, and conservation efforts.
- Bridge Traditional & Scientific Knowledge: Weaving together Yoruba spiritual wisdom, practitioner insights, and scientific research to create holistic environmental solutions.
- Restore & Protect Sacred Waters: Address pollution, erosion, and habitat degradation to ensure the health of the Almond River for generations to come.
- Engage & Empower the Community: Hosting workshops, clean-up efforts, and educational programs to inspire collective stewardship of the watershed.
- Promote Sustainable Ritual Practices: Encouraging eco-conscious offerings, non-toxic ceremonial materials, and respectful engagement with natural water sources.
By working together, we honor the sacred nature of water while ensuring that our fresh waters remain a source of life, balance, and spiritual connection. Join us in this vital effort to protect both our cultural heritage and the environment.
Water is life—let’s safeguard it together.
